K2, the Baltoro Glacier and Concordia

Our camp site at Concordia

Above is a flash panorama composed of several slides taken at Concordia. It is slowly rotating; clicking the curly arrow will stop this. You can drag around with the mouse and zoom in and out with the controls. Click the right most button for a full screen view.

All these photos were taken on a World Expeditions trek to The Karokoram in August 2001.

We met in Lahore, a city with much of interest, then flew to Islamabad, where we had a tour of the city. Then it was by bus for two days to Skardu and the famous K2 Motel. From here it was a day in a jeep to Tongol where the walking started. Our route took us up the Braldu Valley to Piaju and the start of the Baltoro Glacier. From here it was up the glacier to Concordia, which was as far as I got due to a bad cold. Most of the group went over the Gondogoro La and out via Hushe. It is a lasting regret that I never did this section

Trek Log

The Slide show button above takes you to a Flash show of the photos with music. There is a full screen option on the tool bar at the bottom right, this is definately the best viewing option. The player starts automatically but can be paused, and clicking on the photo will cause it to appear in its own browser window so you can save the image if required.

I have rendered several animations and photo comparisons of the area covered by the trek. You can see them by clicking the "Computer Generated Karokoram" button.

To the right is the link to the trek log. Taken from my notes along the way and illustrated with stills from the video. Click them for a full size picture.
