Photo Comparisons of the
Cordillera Huayhuash
These are the same as has been done for other areas. They are Java rollovers compositing the actual photo with the rendered version. Hold the mouse over the picture to see the photo.. The rendered version contains some of the photo in the foreground as this is where the renderings lack detail. The renderings were done with World Construction Set 6 but not with the landsat overlay. For this area I used the WCS to create the textures. Once again I have used Jonathan de Ferranti's patched DEM's for the data, nothing else comes close.
I did not have a GPS at this time so had to estimate the camera positions so there may well be some errors here. The names and heights were taken from a 1:50000 map.

This was taken from our first camp at Janca, and shows Jirishanca 6094m. This mountain can also be seen in the second to last picture below that was taken from the other side of the range. Behind and to the left is Yerupaja Chico 6089m.

This was taken from Carhuacocha looking west. In the distant left is Carnicero 5960m, then Siula Grande 6344m to its right, and to the right of this is Yerupaja 6617m , the highest in the range. Unfortunately in the photo the peak was in cloud.

This is looking down on the settlement of Huayhuash. On the left is Co. Ararac 5074m and to the right is Sueroraju 5439m. This is seen again from the other side in the picture below. Note that the rocky towers in the photo is missing in the rendering.

Here again is Sueroraju 5439m with the missing tower. This time we are looking at it from the South. On the left is Cuyoc 5550m and the North peak to its left at 5625m.

This is Co. Rosario 5557m. We are looking NE toward Suila Grande which is out of sight.

Looking down on the lakes of Jahuacocha. The spur on the left is Ronday 5870m then to its right is Mituraju 5750m and the peak on the right is Jirishanca again at 6094m.

This sunset picture taken from the camp site at Jahuacocha shows yet again Mituraju and Jirishanca left and centre, to the left is Yerupaja Chico 6089m.

Taken from the same spot but looking further to the right (South) is the main peak of Yerupaja 6617. The ridge on the left is not well positioned which may de due to error in camera positioning.
